Tyler, the Creator Mounts Biggest Tour of His Career – Billboard

Earlier this month, Tyler, the Creator wrapped the North American leg of the Call Me If You Get Lost Tour to the biggest business of his career. According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, the trek earned $32.6 million and sold 389,000 tickets between Feb. 8 and April 8.

The tour began with weeknight shows in Phoenix ($985,000 at Footprint Center on Feb. 8) and San Diego ($1.2 million at Pechanga Arena on Feb. 10) before heading east and looping back to the West Coast for closing shows in Portland ($919,000 at Moda Center on April 4), Vancouver ($672,000 at Pacific Coliseum on April 7), and Seattle ($1.4 million at Climate Pledge Arena on April 8).

New York was the tour’s standout stop, as it was the only city where Tyler doubled-up. He played two nights at Madison Square Garden, earning $2.9 million with 28,800 tickets sold on March 13-14. The March 31 show at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles was the biggest single-night earner, raking in $1.6 million from 14,757 tickets.

Shows in Chicago ($1.3 million at United Center on Feb. 22), Washington, D.C. ($1.4 million at Capital One Arena on March 7), and Oakland ($1.4 million at RingCentral Coliseum on April 1) were other highlights.

After 33 shows in 32 cities, Tyler averaged $1.02 million and 12,155 tickets per market. That’s more than double his 2019 Igor Tour, which paced $442,000 and 7,786 tickets. It’s his third consecutive touring cycle to double his previous per-market average, up from $216,000 on 2017’s Flower Boy Tour and $33,000 on 2015’s Cherry Bomb Tour.

Those tours have grown from clubs to theaters to a mix of theaters and arenas to, on the 2022 run, exclusively arenas.

This evolution on stage mirrors his progression on the album charts. Tyler’s first three records – 2011’s Goblin, 2013’s Wolf and 2015’s Cherry Bomb – each debuted in the top five of the Billboard 200 and spent 14, 10 and 5 weeks on the chart, respectively. Flower Boy hit No. 2 in 2017 and stayed on the chart for 99 weeks, followed by Igor becoming his first No. 1 album in 2019 and logging 131 weeks (so far). His most recent effort, Call Me If You Get Lost, also entered at No. 1 and has spent 36 weeks on the survey since its debut last July. Igor and Lost won the Grammy award for best rap album in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

The Call Me If You Get Lost Tour is now the highest-grossing hip-hop tour in the post-pandemic era, eclipsing J. Cole’s The Off-Season Tour and the all-star nostalgia lineup of The Millennium Tour 2021. Tyler will play a variety of festivals, mostly in Europe, with headline dates interspersed, followed by two weeks of shows in Australia and New Zealand.
