Adele Says This Book Changed Her Outlook on Life

Wanna start living your best life? Adele has the answer for you and it’s down to one word: Untamed. That’s the name of the New York Times best-selling memoir from beloved “patron saint of female empowerment” Glennon Doyle, which encourages women to stop chasing the goal of being “good” and trying to please everyone else and start living your own life.

“If you’re ready – this book will shake your brain and make your soul scream,” Adele wrote on Friday in a post that included the cover of the book subtitled. “Stop Pleasing, Start Living.”

She added, “I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It’s as if I just flew into my body for the very first time. Whew! Anyone who has any kind of capacity to truly let go and give into yourself with any kind of desire to hold on for dear life – Do it. Read it. Live it. Practice it. We are a lot! But we are meant to be a lot! .. ‘A good life is a hard life!'”

The singer encouraged her 38.5 million followers to read the book with a highlighter at the ready because she knows you’ll want to go back and refer to certain passages. “I never knew that I am solely responsible for my own joy, happiness and freedom!!” she enthused. “Who knew our own liberation liberates those around us? Cause I didn’t!! I thought we were meant to be stressed and disheveled, confused and selfless like a Disney character!”

Untamed has been on the Times best-seller list for 22 weeks and according to excerpts from ABC News, it contains such pearls of wisdom as: “Our culture was built upon and benefits from the control of women. The way power justifies controlling a group is by conditioning the masses to believe that the group cannot be trusted. So the campaign to convince us to mistrust women begins early and comes from everywhere… When we are little girls, our families, teachers and peers insist that our loud voices, bold opinions, and strong feelings are ‘too much’ and unladylike, so we learn to not trust our personalities… The beauty industry convinces us that our thighs, frizz, skin, fingernails, lips, eyelashes, leg hair and wrinkles are repulsive and must be covered and manipulated, so we learn to not trust the bodies we live in.”

And while Adele is busy working on her best self, the one thing she can’t tell us at the moment is when we might hear her follow-up to 2015’s smash 25. In a comment on her Untamed post, a fan asked where the new album is and Adele broke hearts by responding, “I honestly have no idea.”
