Arcade Fire’s ‘Unconditional I’ Tops Adult Alternative Airplay Chart – Billboard

Arcade Fire hits No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart for the second time, as “Unconditional I (Lookout Kid)” crowns the ranking dated July 2.

The song follows the six-week reign of the band’s first ruler, “Everything Now,” beginning in July 2017.

In between “Now” and “Unconditional,” the band appeared on Adult Alternative Airplay twice, with “Creature Comfort” (No. 21 peak, December 2017) and “The Lightning I & II” (No. 23, this April).

Arcade Fire first appeared on Adult Alternative Airplay in April 2007 with “Keep the Car Running,” which hit No. 19 that May.

Concurrently, “Unconditional” bullets at No. 24, after reaching No. 22, on Alternative Airplay (Arcade Fire’s highest ranking entry since “Now” hit No. 12). On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, “Unconditional” lifts 23-22, a new high (and the band’s best placement since the No. 16-peaking “Now”), with 1.7 million audience impressions, up 5%, according to Luminate.

“Unconditional” is the second radio single from WE, Arcade Fire’s sixth studio album, following “Lightning.” The set debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts dated May 21 and has earned 59,000 equivalent album units since its release.
