“I am so so sorry and regretful to say I have to cancel my pride show in order to deal with family issues,” the artist said in a statement. “I want to say that I am aware the situation has been a great inconvenience to the fans for some time, and I am truly determined to make sure this is no longer the case very soon. I think the show is still going to be amazing and the lineup is great. I hope this is early enough and gives people enough time if they wish to change their plans. And I *will* make this up to you guys very soon.”
Grimes was set to perform on the second day of the World Pride Music Festival, scheduled to be held at the RFK Festival Grounds. Set to perform are artists like Troye Sivan, RuPaul, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora, Kim Petras, and many more.
Grimes did not elaborate on the cancellation apart from citing “family issues.” Earlier this year, Grimes reached out to Elon Musk, with whom she shares three children, about one a medical issue one of the kids was apparently experiencing. “Plz respond about our child’s medical crisis,” she wrote to her former partner on X, the platform he now owns. “I am sorry to do this publicly but it is no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention….If you don’t want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can move forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon.”
