Miley Cyrus to host New Year’s Eve special again – Music News

Miley Cyrus has signed on to host NBC’s New Year’s Eve special for the second time.

After the success of the Midnight Sky singer’s 2021-2022 show with Pete Davidson, she will return for the second iteration of Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party this year.

“I’m kind of a go with the flow kind of person, but (with) this now, it seems like I kind of know what I’m doing on New Year’s forever. Which I like, because I need boundaries,” she said during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, before going on to joke about her unpredictable twerking days. “I know that I have to keep my act together enough to make it to New Year. And that NBC will actually allow me to be on television because there were a couple years there where it was dicey, live TV. I wasn’t asked to do a lot of live TV.”

The network has not yet confirmed whether Pete would also come back for the 2022-2023 event, but has announced that previous executive producer Lorne Michaels will oversee this iteration as well.

And while Miley loved working with Saturday Night Live star Pete, she was nervous he wouldn’t show up for the gig on time.

“He kept joking about not showing up,” the 29-year-old laughed. “But you know, like the truth to every joke, that’s what makes it funny. So, I got very nervous by the fifteenth time he joked about not actually showing up. But he showed up and he did an incredible job.”

Last year, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party drew 6.3 million viewers from 11:30pm to 12:30am, with performances from Noah Cyrus, Brandi Carlile, Saweetie, Anitta, and Jack Harlow among others.

This year’s performance line-up has not yet been announced.
