Post Malone’s ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’ Tops R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart – Billboard

Post Malone extends his perfect run of chart toppers on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as Twelve Carat Toothache debuts at No. 1 on the list dated June 18. The set, released June 3 through Mercury/Republic Records, starts with 121,000 U.S. equivalent album units earned in the week ending June 9, according to Luminate.

Toothache, Post Malone’s fourth studio album, ensures his unbroken run of leaders on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. His debut effort, Stoney, debuted at No. 6 in December 2016, but thanks to steady performance and breakout singles such as “White Iverson” and “Congratulations,” the album topped the chart in December 2017. Follow-up releases beerbongs & bentleys (2018) and Hollywood’s Bleeding (2019) both opened at No. 1. All three titles have shown unusual longevity, too. Of the five longest stays in the top 10 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, which dates to 1965, Bleeding ranks second with 87 weeks; beerbongs and Stoney are tied for third, each with 77.

Elsewhere, Toothache debuts at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200.

Toothache was most recently previewed by the single “Cooped Up,” featuring Roddy Ricch, which advances 7-5 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for a new peak. It also captures the chart’s weekly Streaming Gainer honor for the biggest percentage gain in streams; “Cooped” registered 16.5 million official U.S. streams in the week ending June 9, a 54 percent increase from the prior week. The streaming sum also prompts the track’s 7-3 ascent on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs.

The single’s radio standing improves through a 9-8 lift on Rhythmic Airplay after it rose 14 percent in plays on rhythmic radio stations in the week ending June 12. It also holds in the anchor slot of No. 40 on Pop Airplay despite a seven percent decline in plays.

Fans can also likely see “Cooped” live later this year. Post Malone announced his new album’s 33-date namesake tour this week, with Roddy Ricch appearing as a special guest at many of the concerts.

“Cooped” ranks highest of the three Toothache tracks on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs this week. “I Cannot Be,” featuring Gunna, debuts at No. 8, becoming Post Malone’s 17th top 10 there, and Gunna’s 13th. “Insane,” meanwhile, enters at No. 14.
