The best Memorial Day deals on music gear to shop today and this week

You can BBQ and think about synths. Memorial Day in the USA is bringing a bunch of music tech discounts – including some surprisingly steep ones. Here’s a guide.

If you buy something from a CDM link, we may earn a commission.

Reverb sale on everything

Reverb.com has a massive sale on through May 30 at 5:00 PM, with 15% off storewide and discounts up to 60%. See the full sale:

May 2023 Sitewide Sale

One highlight: the Moog Grandmother for $132 off:

Also some great deals on the Korg SQ-64 sequencer (already steeply discounted for North America on Reverb), a ProCo RAT distortion, an original Mutable Instruments Stages, and Teenage Engineering’s Pocket Operator modular.

Sweetwater pedals and mics

US vendor Sweetwater you’d expect to go all-in with American mattress sales and whatnot and – sure enough, they have, complete with stars and stripes banner. There’s a complete pedal sale on through Wednesday, May 31:

Plus, in case you missed it, “Microphone Month” is still going through Wednesday, too:

Microphone Month Sale

Some of those mics will likely be way out of reach, but take a look as some bread and butter, everyday mic classics that usually don’t go on sale are actually discounted. And I see a steep discount on the Slate Digital VMS ML-1 modeling mic, interesting.

There’s also a nice deal on the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 in deep sea blue. I’m a big fan of those cans both for studio monitoring and DJing (and they’re rugged enough that they’re popular in education where cans tend to get, uh, destroyed otehrwise).

This story will be updated as more deals come in, so keep an eye out!

Software deals

Plugin Boutique has a bunch of discounts.

That includes some big brands’ “summer sales” – iZotope, Native Instruments, Universal Audio, and more. Two plugins I raved about recently are also on sale – the BA-1 synth by Baby Audio (plus other Baby Audio stuff) and SuperPlate from Soundtoys. Plus Output’s excellent granular effect Portal is steeply discounted.

My favorite of these, though, is probably the half-off sale on the Moogerfooger Effects Plugin Bundle.

Plus, everything Eventide is on sale – with some serious, serious gems, at prices you don’t normally see.

Eventide’s apps are on sale, too – see the App Store.

Speaking of NI, in the “completely free” category, their blog just did a story on free KONTAKT Player libraries. Those run in the also-free KONTAKT Player. And, uh, yeah, they’ve steeply discounted … their logo, apparently. (Sorry.)

Also, Waves plug-ins are on sale. Now, technically that’s our fault, since we all shouted at them about the subscriptions, but – we got what we want! Waves sales are back!

Plus, if you don’t have an iPad that runs the new Logic for iPad, this 2021 entry-level model does, and it’s deeply discounted at Amazon:

Apple iPad (9th Generation): with A13 Bionic chip
