At the Paris Olympic Games last summer, the U.S. basketball team secured their fifth consecutive gold medal with help from the Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry, who secured a handful of three-pointers in the game’s final minutes. The Court of Gold trailer documents the pressure and preparation ahead of the crucial game. As French player Rudy Gobert emphasizes his team’s more than 10-year relationship, in the trailer released Thursday, Kevin Durant fires back, scoffing at the French team’s bond.
“That chemistry going to help you when you got to guard Steph?,” Durant says in the trailer.
Court of Gold gives behind the scenes access to the men’s basketball teams from the U.S., France, Serbia, and Canada vying for the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Americans beat France at Paris’ Bercy Arena 98-87 in August winning the gold. France took home silver on their home turf, while Serbia received bronze medals. The series hits Netflix on Feb. 18.
The Jake Rogal-directed docuseries features interviews with players, coaches, and fanatics including former U.S. players like Dwyane Wade, Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony, and coach Steve Kerr. French players like Victor Wembanyama, Serbian players like Bogdan Bogdanović, Canadian players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and RJ Barrett also appear in the six-part series.
Among its producers are Higher Ground Productions, a production company helmed by former president Barack Obama, who makes an appearance in the trailer, and his wife Michelle.
