Comedian John Mulaney and actor Olivia Munn have announced their second child, a daughter named Méi June Mulaney.
Munn shared the news on Instagram on Sunday, writing that Méi was born via surrogate on Thursday.
“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” Munn captioned her post, which included a photo of the parents and baby together in the hospital. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”
Mulaney also shared the news via Instagram, writing that their daughter was born in the year of the dragon. “I love my little girl so much,” he wrote, and along with Munn shared that “Méi (pronounced may) means plum in Chinese.”
Earlier this year, Munn revealed that she had privately battled breast cancer in 2023. “I needed to catch my breath and get through some of the hardest parts before sharing,” she said after undergoing a double mastectomy last year.
In May, she told Good Morning America that she wanted to document her cancer journey for her son, two-year-old Malcolm, whom she shares with Mulaney. “If I didn’t make it, I wanted my son when he got older to know that I fought to be here, that I tried my best,” she said. She also revealed that following her double mastectomy that she underwent egg retrieval in hopes that she and Mulaney could have another child in the future.

“That’s a scary process because I have a cancer [luminal B] that feeds off of hormones, so I knew there was a risk,” she told GMA. “Our doctor said, ‘We’re gonna get one for you, and then we are gonna call it.’ And then our doctor called, and he said, ‘Hey, we got the results back: It’s two healthy embryos.’ And I just started bawling, crying. Both of us.”
Mulaney and Munn got married in July.
