Three Days Grace ties Shinedown for the most No. 1s in the 41-year history of Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, as “Lifetime” lifts to the top of the ranking dated July 9.
“Lifetime” marks Three Days Grace’s 17th No. 1, dating to its first, “Just Like You,” in 2004.
Shinedown, which earned its first Mainstream Rock Airplay leader in 2005, also sports 17 No. 1s. The two bands have traded the record in recent years, with Shinedown having most recently crowned the survey with “Planet Zero” for eight weeks beginning in March.
Van Halen boasted a record 13 rulers all to itself as of March 1998, until Three Days Grace tied the band with its 13th leader, “The Mountain,” in March 2018. Three Days Grace moved into the lead by itself with its 14th No. 1, “Infra-Red,” in September 2018.

“Lifetime” marks Three Days Grace’s second straight No. 1, following the four-week ruler “So Called Life” in February.
“Lifetime” also leaps 12-9 on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay tally with 2.5 million audience impressions, according to Luminate. It’s the Matt Walst-fronted Canadian band’s sixth top 10 and second in a row, following the No. 8-peaking “So Called Life.”
Additionally, “Lifetime” bullets at No. 7, after reaching No. 6 the week before, on the multi-metric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, and jumps 22-19 on Hard Rock Digital Song Sales. In the June 24-30 tracking week, in addition to its radio airplay, the song earned 580,000 official U.S. streams and sold 500 downloads.
Three Days Grace’s seventh studio album, Explosions, from which “Lifetime” is the second single, debuted at No. 4 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart dated May 21 and has earned 44,000 equivalent album units to date.
